The fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, brought digitization and connectivity to reshape manufacturing and production technologies. As we move into the future, the technological pace of change continues to evolve rapidly and impact businesses across industries—encompassing what Accenture has coined Industry X.
The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) investigated the state of Industry X in the automotive industry. To collect insight on the automotive industry, the team conducted long-form interviews with six vehicle manufacturers and 11 automotive suppliers with operations in North America. The CAR research team included the technical and strategic knowledge and perspective from an ecosystem consisting of hardware (Dell and Intel), data management (Cloudera), digital automation and analytics (Rockwell Automation and PTC), consulting (Accenture), and cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure).
The CAR research team breaks down this massive, complex sector into four building blocks: technology, coherent strategy, process to manage data, and people to support Industry X efforts. This report dives into how automotive stakeholders are bringing about transformative change from the C-Suite to IT and OT teams and the production floor.
Dive into the report to uncover the CAR’s insights into the unending evolution of Industry X.
