Accelerating innovation in engineering
For Vestas, the digital thread starts in engineering. Here, they are developing new methods for design, enabling geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary teams to strategically collaborate with partners and customers using trusted, up-to-date product information. Everything Vestas does is based on the idea that you don’t have to sacrifice quality to get better performance, cost, to develop faster, or to be more sustainable.

Engineering model-based enterprise
Vestas leverages Creo for model-based definition (MBD), creating 3D models enriched with semantic PMI annotations and other specification documents that convey design intent. Their vision is for 3D models to be the single source of truth for the “model-based enterprise” to streamline delivery, avoid errors, and improve product quality. MBD enables better collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and downstream suppliers early in the design and development process.

Engineering requirements management
With a requirements management system, Vestas will manage business needs and translate ideas into functional technical requirements. Users can track requirements changes, manage their relationships, conduct impact analysis, query for pass/fail conditions, generate reports, and manage test plans, development, and execution. Custom requirements approval and validation enhances transparency and accountability. Combined requirements and test management improves design traceability, enables enterprise change impact analysis, and creates design boundaries for faster iteration.
