This summer, I had the opportunity to intern at PTC, a company specializing in PLM, ALM, CAD, and other industrial software solutions. PTC is a leader in digital transformation, helping companies design, manufacture, and service products we rely on everyday. Here's a glimpse into my journey with PTC, covering the onboarding process, weekly intern events, my responsibilities, and the company’s vibrant culture and events.

Onboarding: A warm welcome to PTC

The onboarding process at PTC was a two-day orientation packed with insightful presentations and panels. These sessions were designed to help us understand the company’s mission, vision, and culture. We delved into PTC's core values and commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer success.

During the orientation, we explored the Boston headquarters, including a visit to the Corporate Experience Center (CXC). The CXC is where PTC showcases its cutting-edge technologies and solutions. We got to see firsthand how PTC's software enables companies to transform how they design, make, and maintain their products.

Meeting the other interns was a highlight. We bonded over lunch, sharing our aspirations. The orientation culminated in a meet-and-greet with our respective managers, setting the stage for a collaborative internship experience.

Weekly intern events: Learning, bonding, and fun

PTC organized weekly events for interns that were both educational and fun. One of the most memorable events was a volunteering activity where we contributed to a community project for underserved children, reflecting PTC's commitment to social responsibility.

We also had the chance to visit the headquarters of FormLabs, one of PTC's clients, to learn how they utilize Onshape, PTC’s cloud-native CAD software, to create revolutionary 3D printing machines. This visit provided valuable insights into the real-world applications of PTC's solutions.

Another exciting event was attending a Boston Red Sox game with the intern class. This outing was not only a way to unwind but also an excellent opportunity to bond with fellow interns outside the office environment.

Work responsibilities: Contributing to meaningful projects

Throughout my internship, I worked alongside the Brand Campaign team, where I supported various initiatives to boost our brand awareness. My responsibilities included brainstorming and developing creative ideas, creating content for the website and social media, assisting with the company's newsletter, and shadowing the team responsible for organizing PTC's CXO Summits.

I also created webpages to highlight some of PTC's employee resource groups (ERGs), which are crucial for recognizing diversity and fostering inclusion within the company and providing a global platform for employees to connect, share experiences, and support one another.

Additionally, I collaborated with the Corporate Communications team. One notable project was supporting an analyst visit, where we hosted a Gartner Analyst for an onsite visit. This experience taught me a lot about corporate communications and the importance of maintaining strong relationships with industry analysts.

Company culture and events: A vibrant and inclusive workplace

PTC’s Boston headquarters, with its stunning rooftop, was a fantastic place to work. The company culture is vibrant and inclusive, and there were always events to look forward to.

We celebrated Pride Month and honored PTC’s recognition as a Great Place to Work with lively office socials where you could grab a snack and a drink. Another highlight was an outing to the Tall Ship Boston with the corporate communications and marketing teams. These events were fun while providing opportunities to meet and connect with colleagues from different departments and experience the camaraderie that makes PTC a unique workplace.

My internship at PTC was a great experience that offered a perfect blend of learning, professional growth, and fun. The onboarding process, weekly events, and my work responsibilities all contributed to a rich and fulfilling internship. PTC's inclusive culture and commitment to innovation made it a fantastic place to spend my summer. I am grateful for the opportunity and excited to see how the skills and knowledge I gained will shape my future career.
