Opening a model specific Creo Parametric Family Table instance from a Windchill PDMLink workspace while the generic is in session causes the instance to be flagged as 'modified' when the generic is saved

Modified: 09-Sep-2022

Applies To

  • Creo Parametric 3.0 to 5.0
  • Windchill PDMLink 10.2 to 11.1

Description

  • Opening a model specific Creo Parametric Family Table instance from a Windchill PDMLink workspace while the generic is in session causes the instance to be flagged as 'modified' when the generic is saved
    • That is even if the instance was closed and erased from Creo Parametric memory before the generic was saved
    • No changes were made to the generic or to the instance that triggers the instance modification
Steps to reproduce
  1. Add to a Windchill PDMLink workspace the model specific Creo Parametric generic CAD without any instances
  2. Unlock if necessary the generic from the workspace
  3. Open generic in Creo Parametric and trigger a checkout via adding a new line in the family table
  4. After that is done, stay in family table and open a specific instance
  5. This last transaction will add to the workspace the instance model (unlock it if need be)
  6. Next close instance from session (also could erase from Creo Parametric memory if needed to)
  7. Try to save the generic and notice that there are 2 warning prompted as the instance wants to be saved
  • This is incorrect as the generic only should be saved (and the new instance)
