Unable to select references of component or assembly when applying constrains to components in assembly in Creo Parametric

Modified: 23-Apr-2023

Applies To

  • Creo Parametric 1.0 to 10.0
  • Pro/ENGINEER and Creo Elements/Pro Wildfire to Wildfire 5.0

Description

  • How to control external references assembly mode
  • Which config options control reference control
  • Unable select/pick component surface  after Add Location in a Cabling assembly
  • Fail to select geometry as reference when assembling a component or route cable
  • Surfaces, datum or other references are not selectable when applying constraints in assembly
  • Unable to reference geometry from other models while in sketcher
  • Unable to select a reference when placing a component in assembly mode
  • Impossible to assemble a part in an assembly
  • Selection is disabled when assembling
  • Model Info shows EXTERNAL REFERENCES CONTROL: DON'T ALLOW TO REFERENCE ANY OTHER MODELS in the embedded browser
  • When using the cabling module, cabling path new location point cannot select external reference, only the geometry in the currently activated harness part can be referenced, and the configuration options cannot be modified to the following options: default_ext_ref_scope all default_object_scope_setting all Is the Creo Parametric software installation package specially made, or is there a higher-level config.sup file to force external references not to be allowed? If the cabling path cannot be referenced externally, it is very troublesome to make the cabling path. Please give a solution!
  • When a part from a multi-level assembly is activated, other parts and the assembly are displayed as grey and cannot be selected. But if open the upper assembly of that part and activate that part, everything is fine. Is there anything wrong with the settings?
