Codebeamer description field text in plain format and enclosed in square brackets changes to a hyperlink in Word Export
Modified: 12-Jul-2024
Applies To
- Codebeamer 2.0 to 2.2
- Steps to replicate the issue :
- Create an item in tracker with wikitext type description field
- Open the item in new tab
- Edit the description
- Choose format of the text as Plain
- Enter any text enclosed in square brackets e.g. Hello [World]!
- Ensure the text format is still Plain and save
- Reload the item
- Export the item to Word with default template
- You will notice the word export has text enclosed in square bracket in description changed to a hyperlink
Description
- During word export of Codebeamer item, a description of "descFormat": "Plain" is treated like "descFormat": "W", resulting in unexpected output.
- In Codebeamer UI, plaintext description containing wiki markup characters, such as square brackets, are rendered correctly without need of escape characters.
- However, when these items are exported to Word, the plaintext is interpreted as wiki text, causing unescaped brackets to form invalid wiki link.
