Codebeamer description field text in plain format and enclosed in square brackets changes to a hyperlink in Word Export

Modified: 12-Jul-2024

Applies To

  • Codebeamer 2.0 to 2.2
  • Steps to replicate the issue :
    • Create an item in tracker with wikitext type description field
    • Open the item in new tab
    • Edit the description
    • Choose format of the text as Plain
    • Enter any text enclosed in square brackets e.g. Hello [World]!
    • Ensure the text format is still Plain and save
    • Reload the item
    • Export the item to Word with default template
    • You will notice the word export has text enclosed in square bracket in description changed to a hyperlink

Description

  • During word export of Codebeamer item, a description of "descFormat": "Plain" is treated like "descFormat": "W", resulting in unexpected output.
  • In Codebeamer UI, plaintext description containing wiki markup characters, such as square brackets, are rendered correctly without need of escape characters.
    • However, when these items are exported to Word, the plaintext is interpreted as wiki text, causing unescaped brackets to form invalid wiki link.
