Removal of Legacy Links from Windchill 13.0.2.0

Modified: 02-Jul-2024

Applies To

  • Windchill PDMLink 11.0 to 13.0.1.3
  • A Windchill Diagnostic Utility (WinDu) will be backported to Windchill: 12.0.2.20, 12.1.2.10, and 13.0.1.4 to assist with the discovery of legacy links.
  • A mandatory flexible link WinDu task “Check if the Change Management and Quality Management Solutions objects are ready for the upgrade to Windchill 13.0.2.0 or later” is introduced in these releases.
  • This task generates a report on the readiness of the Change Management and Quality Management Solutions objects for the upgrade or migration (Windchill Bulk Migrator) to Windchill 13.0.2.0 or later.
    • If the system is not in flexible mode and has legacy data, the report states that the Change Management and Quality Management Solutions objects are NOT READY for the upgrade or migration (WBM).
    • If the system is in flexible mode and does not have legacy data, the report states that the Change Management and Quality Management Solutions objects are READY for the upgrade or migration (WBM).

Description

  • In Windchill 13.0.2.0, PTC will be discontinuing the use of legacy links. These links exist in the Change Management and Windchill Quality Management domains. This will affect solutions like the Windchill PDMLink system, FlexPLM system, WADM (Windchill Aerospace and Defense Module), and any custom change objects.
  • In Windchill 11.0 M010, flexible links were introduced as the replacement for legacy links.
  • Starting with Windchill 11.1.0 (11.1 F000), any new Change Objects or Quality Management objects are created with flexible links by default. However, any older (created prior to 11.1.0) Change Objects and Quality Management objects may still contain legacy links.
  • All remaining legacy links require a mandatory conversion to flexible links before an upgrade or migration (WBM) to Windchill 13.0.2.0 or later.
