When using Export to CSV/Excel functionality, apostrophe is added before the special character hyphen/dash (-) in Windchill PDMLink
Modified: 20-Nov-2025
Applies To
- Windchill PDMLink 12.0.2.15
- Windchill PDMLink 12.1.2.6 to 13.1
Description
- When using Export to CSV or Export to Excel functionality, apostrophe is added before the special character hyphen/dash (-)
- If we provide any value leading with dash or hyphen (-) to any Attribute such as Name for a WTPart object and then later from Mult-level Bill of Report, if we use the Export to CSV functionality, the Attribute Value has apostrophe or single quote (') before the dash or hyphen in the CSV file
- Export to CSV and Export to Excel , for both cases apostrophe is added before the special character hyphen/dash (-) in Windchill PDMLink.
- Additional Double quote (") is added while performing Export to CSV if Attribute value consists of at least one Double quote.
- Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Create a WTPart with Name as -Test33 (just ensure that the Attribute value starts with dash/hyphen)
- Behavior is same for IBA and not just an issue for MBA such as Name
- Go to Structure tab of WTPart and from Reports section, generate Multi level BOM Report
- Once the Report is shown in new window, use Actions>Export List to file>Export to CSV Here, when the CSV is generated, the value in CSV file is shown as '-Test33
- Notice an apostrophe is added before the text value
- Create a WTPart with Name as -Test33 (just ensure that the Attribute value starts with dash/hyphen)
