Expression Alias objects cannot be searched when using Alias Definition Attribute as Advanced Search Criteria in Windchill PDMLink

Modified: 20-Feb-2024

Applies To

  • Windchill PDMLink 11.1 to 13.0

Description

  • Expression Alias objects cannot be searched when using Alias Definition Attribute as Advanced Search Criteria
  • After including Expression Alias Object Type as Searchable Type as per article CS128429 and including Alias Definition Attribute (Internal Name: expressionData) for Search Criteria as per article CS180432, the Advanced Search gives no results when providing the Expression used in Expression Alias object as value for the Criteria
  • The Expression containing special characters does not give results when used in Advanced Search Criteria
  • Consider below use case as example:
    • Create an Expression Alias such as below where OP1 is the Option and C1 and C2 are the Choices:
      • image.png
    • After configuring the Properties to get Expression Alias as Searchable Object Type and Alias Definition as the Attribute used in Criteria, if we provide the Expression from Expression Alias in the Attribute Criteria, no results are shown:
      • image.png
      • image.png
    • If similar value i.e. the one with special characters (backslashes) is provided to any other Attribute such as Description and if this Attribute is used as Criteria, correct results are shown in Search Results table so the issue seems to be specific to Alias Definition Attribute
