OFFICE worker becomes unresponsive when publishing Microsoft Office Documents in Windchill PDMLink

Description

  • Windchill OFFICE worker publishing fails for Microsoft Office WTDocuments
  • The doc2pv process hangs or crashes when publishing Word document if worker is running in background mode
  • No problem with Microsoft Office Excel or Powerpoint documents
  • Worker log shows that the adapter hangs at Publishing document :
    Connection established
    Registering as WORKER3 <WORKERHOST> OFFICE

  • Worker log shows error:
doc2pv MONITOR:: Microsoft Excel cannot access the file 'c:\<Folder>\XXX.xlsx'. There are several possible reasons:
• The file name or path does not exist.
• The file is being used by another program.
• The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

  • Office worker test was failing with error: Failed to publish document file "<Folder>\XXX.docx" to "<Folder>\XXX_docx.pdf" only when AEM is configured

    • Error "ALC-PDG-016-004-An error was encountered while processing the Microsoft Word file for PDF generation" observed while converting office document manually from AEM admin UI

  • WVS job monitor log shows error:
Failed to publish document file "D:/<Folder>\XXX.docx" to "D:/<Folder>\XXX_docx.pdf"
