Designation process as Control Charatecteristic does not produce consistent outcome between manual action, user_command and config option in Creo Parametric

Modified: 19-Sep-2023

Applies To

  • Creo Parametric 8.0

Description

  • Designation process as Control Charatecteristic does not produce consistent outcome between manual action, user_command and config option
  • Consider existing shown (DRV_DIM_XXX) and created (ADXX) dimensions, originally not designated:
    • MANUAL: >Tools >Model Intent >Designate >Objects >Annotation Elements + selection of the AEs (giving later access to Control Characteristics checkbox) produces:
AD_XX
DRV_DIM_XXX
  • USER_COMMAND: >File >Prepare >Model Properties >Detail Options >Change and entering user_command annotation_designation control_characteristics produces:
AD_XX
DRV_DIM_XXX
D_XX (this one - being the driving dimension where DRV_DIM_XXX was generated from - is not expected)
  • CONFIG OPTION: Consider new shown and created dimensions, with default_annotation_designation control_characteristics in config.pro.
    • Upon Create Dimension (from Create Dimenson icon in Annotate tab), AD_X is automatically Designated as Control Characteristics upon creation
    • Upon Show Dimension (from right mouse menu in a given feture when being in Annotate tab):
      • system unexpectedly designates as Control Characteristic the D_XX driving dimension
      • instead of the DRV_DIM_XXX Annotation Element
    • And leads therefore in following result in >Tools >Model Intent >Designate >Objects
AD_XX
D_XX (this one - being the driving dimension where DRV_DIM_XXX was generated from - is not expected)
(and DRV_DIM_XXX - originally expected - is not produced)
