Modified: 24-Jul-2023
Applies To
- Windchill PDMLink 12.1
Description
- PTC Contributor License is unexpectedly restrictive
- As per Workflow: Restricting Workflow Functionality to Licensed Users section in What's New chapter of Windchill PDMLink 12.1 Help Center:
- Users part of PTC Contributor group are supposed to access and complete a workflow task
- Users part of PTC Windchill Advanced group are supposed to manage workflow processes, workflow templates, and life cycle templates
- However, if a given user is simulatenously part of above groups:
- Expectation is to have access to all what is offered by PTC Windchill Advanced group
- Whereas User access is however restircted by what is ONLY offered by PTC Contributor group :
- Workflow processes
- If this user identifies a running workflow from Search Result table:
- Right Clicking on it gives only access to Terminate (and not Open Process Manager and/or Open Process Monitor)
- If this user identifies a running workflow from Search Result table:
- Workflow processes
- Accessing the "i" icon opens Process Manager, but icons to manage the workflow process are missing
- Workflow templates
- If user opens >Site >Utilities >Workflow Templates >Edit
- Workflow Administrator UI comes up and Workflow Template is checked out
- But >File >Save and >File >Save as menus are grayed out
- If user opens >Site >Utilities >Workflow Templates >Edit
- Life cycle templates
- If user opens >Site >Utilities >LifecycleTemplates >Edit
- Workflow Administrator UI comes up with clear licensing issue as follows
- If user opens >Site >Utilities >LifecycleTemplates >Edit
