Creo Illustrate 8.1: The updated algorithm to export figures as 2D vector may show a different quality

Modified: 04-Dec-2025

Applies To

  • Creo Illustrate 8.1 to 12.0

Description

  • In Creo Illustrate 8.1 the more sophisticated hidden line removal algorithm as previously used to generate 2D figures has been adopted to also be used when exporting figures as 2D vector (cgm, svg, idr)
  • Also, the new algorithm does no longer offer the option to generate Inner Edges - this is now controlled using the Thin line tolerance setting.
  • This Change is expected to result in a better quality, However Some geometry may show unexpected results and would benefit from using the old algorithm
  • The saved .SVG format file's item balloon callouts are not a consistent diameter as originally displayed in Creo Illustrate.
  • Note :
    • Environment variable ILLUSTRATION_OLD_3D_2D_PUBLISH should no longer be used in higher versions of Creo Illustrate.
    • It has been removed in Creo Illustrate 12.0
  • The new algorithm of Creo Illustrate 8.1 would consider part transparence which would generate extra hidden lines after exporting to svg
