Why CREO DISTRIBUTED BATCH tasks sometime fail with "[-4] Error: Incomplete input data" entry in log file of Creo Parametric
Modified: 02-Dec-2025
Applies To
- Creo Parametric 1.0 to 12.4
- Windchill PDMLink 11.2 to 13.0
Description
- Why CREO DISTRIBUTED BATCH tasks sometime fail with following entry in log file ?
[-4] Error: Incomplete input data
- Consider for intsance:
- A task (Run a Mapkey defined in config.pro calling mapkey.ttd) supposed to run a Mapkey, calling for instance >Investigate >File History
- Or a task (STEP 3D Export calling step_3d_export.ttd) supposed to export a given model in 3D Step format
- Most of the time, executing above tasks on objects succeed as expected
- But in some situations, based on object selected:
- The Task Execution fails
- Error in log file in Working directory (mapkey_ttd.log or step_3d_export_ttd.log for instance) is as follows
Task Id : 10.128.15.65.9312.1634303969.9 Service Instance Id : <Port>@<Server Name> Service Host Name : Server Name Task Object : <Path to Originaly Affected Object> -------------------------------------------------------------- OPERATION | STATUS | COMMENTS -------------------------------------------------------------- Connected to Creo Pro | Successful | <Path to parametric.psf file> Reading Task Type Definition | Successful | Copied configuration objects | Successful | Load Model into Creo Pro | Failed | [-4] Error: Incomplete input data.
- Whereas the same action performed manually in a Creo Parametric standalone session succeeds as expected
- What does this error mean?
- Why does it affect only Distributed Pro/BATCH environment (and not standalone or linked sessions of Creo Parametric)?
