when selecting Windchill EPMDocument Details in Creo view it opens a Chrome browser even if you have Edge as your default browser

Description

  • When selecting Windchill EPMDocument Details option in Creo View, Google Chrome browser is opened with the detail page of the component instead of Microsoft Edge which was used to open the Assembly in Creo View.
  • When using the functions Windchill Parts Details, the error message appears: This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app.
  • How to set Creo View to open in Microsoft Edge when selecting Windchill EPMDocument Details or Windchill Parts Details option instead of Google Chrome ?
  • Issues launching Windchill links like ‘Windchill Part Details’ etc. from Creo View Client with Microsoft Edge browser (chromium based new Microsoft Edge browser )
  • Open representation in Creo view client from Windchill PDMLink.
  • RMB on structure or part node present in Creo view client, following options are presented , clicking on them will show behavior as mentioned in following use cases 
  • Use case 1 - Chrome browser not installed on system
    • For EPMDocument and Part details options, or For Copy EPMDocument or Part to Windchill Clipboard options once user click on them following UI will pop up.
    • User needs to click "OK" button and then action will complete (in Microsoft Edge browser)
  • Use Case 2 - Chrome browser installed on system
    • For EPMDocument and Part details options, the Chrome browser will launch upon the user's object selection, and the user will need to login again in the chrome browser, if a chrome browser logged-in session is not present.
    • Once logged in, it will display EPMDocument or Part details page depending on the option selected by the user
  • *For Copy EPMDocument or Part to Windchill Clipboard options, once the user clicks on them, the Chrome browser will launch and the user needs to login again in the chrome browser, if a logged-in session of the chrome browser is not present. After login, the user needs to navigate to the Windchill clipboard where a user can see the respective copied content of the EPMDocument or Part depending on the option clicked by user in the Creo view client.
