When a CAD assembly structure has multiple components of the same LINENUMBER editing this CAD Uses Link attribute in Windchill PDMLink updates one value at a time instead of all to the same value

Applies To
- Windchill PDMLink 12.0.0.0 to 12.0.2.1
- Windchill PDMLink 11.1 M020-CPS11 to M020-CPS20
- Creo Parametric 5.0 to 7.0
- Windchill Workgroup Manager
Description
- When a CAD assembly structure has multiple components of the same LINENUMBER editing this CAD Uses Link attribute in Windchill PDMLink updates one value at a time instead of all to the same value
- When using the Windchill PDMLink's display of a CAD structure via >Display >Merge Uses and editing this value does not update all identical LINENUMBER components
- >Display >Merge Uses organizes and merges multiple components of same LINENUMBER or identical quantity
- The change of LINENUMBER value updates one value thus separating the structure items
- Steps to replicate this behavior
- Follow CS197902 and define LINENUMBER IBA in Windchill PDMLink and then, add the attribute LINENUMBER to the EPM Document Uses Link > CAD Document Usage Link type under Type and Attribute Manager >Manage Types
- Now, create or use a CAD assembly with a pattern of a family table object or a regular CAD model
- Define LINENUMBER at component level in Creo Parametric
- Next, close Creo Parametric, no need for next steps in Creo Parametric
- Launch standalone browser (can be any, Edge IE or Chrome), and in Windchill PDMLink find the assembly you just checked-in
- Check out the assembly to a workspace (any or the same you used in Steps #2 above)
- Access from this workspace the details of the assembly and click on tab Structure so you can access Uses
- You will need to tweak the table display view in Uses to include the column LINENUMBER (or the display name you have given to the CAD Uses Link parameter)
- By default the display is set to show Separate Uses, you will need to change using >Display >Merge Uses
- Next, while in this Merge Uses display go ahead and modify the LINENUMBER value. The expectation here is that once the value is typed and saved, the value will change for all components
- Go ahead and refresh the workspace webpage display and notice this now you are again in Separate Uses, change to Merge Uses as mentioned above. Now, notice the quantity has separated
