Is it possible to drive custom symbol height in Creo Parametric, based on the number of characters in the variable text called by the symbol?
Modified: 13-May-2020
Applies To
- Creo Parametric 1.0 to 7.0
Description
- Consider Custom Symbol created with a Variable text according to technique documented in article 66449
- Consider the Variable text configured to call in drawing's environment
- Either an external parameter belonging to the active 3d model with syntax &<parameter_name>
- Or a parameter called from a repeat region with syntax, for instance, asm.mbr.name
- Upon insertion of the Custom Symbol in Drawing environment, is it possible to configure related Height to vary, based on the number of characters in the variable text called by the symbol?
- Upon generation of BOM Balloons in Drawing environment:
- Size of the Symbol Height varies when generating BOM Balloons using Out Of The Box simple circle symbol and calling for instance asm.mbr.name entry in related Repeat Region
- Size of the Symbol Height however remains fixed when generating BOM Balloons using Custom Symbol calling also the same asm.mbr.name entry in related Repeat Region
- Refer to creating Customized BOM Ballons section of Creo Parametric Help center for more information on above approach
- Why this difference of behavior between Out Of The Box simple circle symbol and Custom Symbol ?
| BOM Balloons generated using Simple Circle default type calling asm.mbr.name | BOM Balloons generated using Custom Symbol defined with a Variable Text calling asm.mbr.name |
