Windchill Workgroup Manager installation fails to complete and as a result is unable to uninstall it

Description

  • On certain conditions, Windchill Workgroup Manager installation is incomplete and unable to uninstall it as a result.
    • Condition 1:
      • Workgroup Manager installer is not located on local disk, it is stored in another machines on network
      • Use the installation command as network drive (e.g. Z:\wwgm\setup.exe) or UNC path (\\ANOTHER_MACHINE\wwgm\setup.exe)
      • The null folder C:\ptc already exists at that time
      • Specify the location of Workgroup Manager as C:\ptc instead of C:\ptc (The path does not contain the string "\")
    • Condition 2:
      • The installation of Workgroup Manager is completed on a driver which does not exist on the client machine by a customized batch.
    • At first glance, the installation appears to have completed successfully. However, the shortcut icon is a different image than usual.
    • And attempting to uninstall from the control panel, the following warning is display and unable to do it.
      • You do not have sufficient access to uninstall PTC Windchill Workgroup Manager 11.1 [M###-CPS##]. Please contact your system administrator.
