Mathcad Prime
PTC Mathcad Prime Product Overview
PTC Mathcad Prime is the leading application for engineering calculations – built to solve, analyze, document, and share engineering math with clarity. It’s a powerful calculation tool for engineers, researchers, and technical professionals to easily capture and validate assumptions while preserving calculation IP. In an intuitive environment, Mathcad Prime allows users to work with natural math notation, automatic unit awareness, and traceable worksheets that enable teams to preserve and reuse calculations. Easily communicate ideas with math, text, plots, and images in a single, professionally formatted document that is readable and easy to understand – unlike spreadsheets.

Mathcad Prime is offered in two license types
Please refer to the PTC Mathcad Prime Licensing Basis table for a complete description of the license types.
- Floating License: A license that can be used by one user at a time. Referred to as a “Concurrent User” in the licensing basis table. Floating licenses enable multiple users to “share” licenses on the same server, as long as the number of concurrent users doesn’t exceed the number of licenses purchased. Floating licenses are great for teams that need flexibility across multiple users or machines.
- Locked License: A license that is limited to being used on the computer on which it is installed. Referred to as a “Designated Computer” in the licensing basis table. Locked licenses are ideal for individual users or setups where the software is always used on the same workstation.
Mathcad Prime capabilities include:
- Symbolic and numeric math across algebra, calculus, linear and nonlinear differential equations, logic, and linear algebra.
- Full control over text and math formatting.
- Collapsible, lockable sections to prevent others from modifying your IP.
- Comprehensive unit support with automatic checking and conversion.
- Hundreds of built‑in functions for data analysis, statistics, signal/image processing, optimization, and more.
