Tips & Tricks: Improved Weld Detection in Creo Simulate for Creo 4.0

Welds created in Creo Parametric establish the geometry and location of welds in your assembly, but you must have weld features to perform analysis and simulation using Creo Simulate. Now, the system can detect solid weld types and automatically create weld features in Creo Simulate. Here’s how:

Automatically Detect Welds

Open up a model that includes welds that you want to analyze.

  1. In the Simulation group on the Applications tab, click Simulate.
  2. In the Connections group on the Refine Model tab, click Weld and select Detect Weld Features.
  3. Select the components, or the complete assembly, and set the options.

The system automatically detects and adds the weld connections to the model tree.

Review New Geometry

Now you can click Review Geometry (in the AutoGEM group on the Refine Model tab) and see what the system created. You should see different types of simulation geometry highlighted in the colors shown in the dialog. Click the color swatch to change the highlight color.
