Borrowing is not eligible for all PTC products. The Manage Licensing app automatically applies 180 borrow days in the license file. The admin can then apply the number of days (within the 180) that they want to use in the product
The combination of multiple contracts/subscriptions into one.
The unique identifier for a customer account.

Adding a product family filter allows users to find information quickly by narrowing their search to a product family.
Tables in the Manage License app can be personalized to display the information you want and in what order.
A commercially developed, third party licensing software that PTC utilizes within its products.
A floating license is a type of software license that allows multiple users to share a limited number of licenses across different devices, enabling access on a first-come, first-served basis. This is a product specific option and not available for all PTC products.
This will force all eligible licenses to be locked to this host. Previously known as “Templock”. This restricts the use of all products on the host to the current user.
A Home Use Host is a type of software license that allows users to install and use the software on a personal device for non-production purposes, typically as an extension of their organization's primary license.
Provides audit logging details on the lifecycle of a product installed in the searched host.
The type of environment where PTC software is being used and the host is managing licenses. This can be Production or non-production.
Host History is a record of all changes and activities related to a specific host, including hardware modifications, license installations, license file generation, versions, and usage history over time.
The amount of installed purchased product on to a host.
Provides details of any time a license was generated by a user.
The user-defined, recognizable 'name' or 'hostname' of the computer. If the host name is not available to PTC License Management, then the Host ID is used.
Attributes of the host including MAC addresses, device IDs, host options, labels, and other host related details that are searchable in the application.
The host type of where the purchased product is installed. This can be Standard, Triad, or Home Use host types.
A server that manages software applications and services.
The software products owned by a customer and how they are configured.
Provides the hardware details of installed products, showing which products are currently installed and on which hosts.
The amount of the owned licensed product that is currently installed.
Labels are self-defined, recognizable references that will appear to you in lists for quick identification of the host. For example: it can be a project name, a site/city where it’s used etc.
This is the most recent sales order created for a customer transaction in the system. It is usually referring to renewal transactions. For more context, see the definition for Sales Order Number (SON).
This is the latest eligible version of the product available.
Grants the right to use the software product. Licenses can either be locked, floating or home use. Licenses can have different usages.
By default, the system is enabled to manage quantities across hosts to remain at or below the owned quantity. This setting is most often disabled in conjunction with creating a sandbox host. Disabling license control for a production host is most applicable to the ThingWorx and Windchill product families, which allow the same named (or registered) users to access their license across multiple production hosts.
Identifies whether the product is subscription or perpetual.
The server or system where PTC licenses are installed, which can be used in either production or non-production (test, development, or staging) environments.
A locked license is a type of software license that is tied to a specific device or hardware, restricting its use to that designated system only.
An optional module of PTC software that is locked to a license of PTC software.
Allows users to change the version of a licensed product. The versions available and shown are based on active contract terms.
A Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller (NIC) for use in local network communications. It acts like a "name tag" for devices on a local network, ensuring data packets reach the correct destination. Valid entries must meet these criteria:
- A series of 4 or 6 two-digit characters (ex. 10-10-56-78 or 00-12-25-56-78-9A).
- Address cannot be longer than 17 digits.
- Valid characters are 0-9, A-F and hyphen.
Allows users to update the number of licensed products that have been allocated to a host. They can increase, decrease, or completely remove the product using this functionality.
Software that is dependent on a license to run. In other words, a module cannot run by itself, but a license can. A module can be locked or floating usages.
A workflow to assist users in moving installed product quantity to a different host. The workflow includes selecting products, product quantities to move, and the new host destination, with a summary confirmation before finalizing the move.
Acts as a label to clearly identify which of your licensing hosts are not used in production (test, staging, training etc.). It does not have any other effect on host configurations or quantity compliance other than to tag it as a sandbox. This option is often used in conjunction with disable license control for ThingWorx and Windchill products.
This is the very first sales order created for a customer’s product subscription. For more context, see the definition for Sales Order Number (SON).
Overallocations are prevented by default when assigning products to licensing hosts to assist our customers in maintaining compliance. However, overallocation can occur if subscriptions are reduced/remixed. PTC may need customers’ assistance to identify the installed licenses that are no longer being used and will be returned.
The amount of the licensed product that has been owned by the customer. This may include products that have been transferred to the customer that they did not purchase directly.
This uniquely identifies each line of the owned product package. This can be useful when communicating about a specific line item within a product package. For example, a package listed twice in a quote for management purposes, would have 2 separate package asset IDs created.
A customer-generated number that denotes a binding commitment by a customer to obtain and pay for goods and services offered by PTC.
The three distinct host IDs that make up a triad.
The part number.
The product name as defined by PTC Product Management.
Offers a detailed view of all the products a customer is entitled to within their product package. This includes not only the products licensed through the tool, but also those that are manually managed, ensuring a complete inventory of customer entitlements.
The product that has been purchased and is shown on the quote. Product packages can be made up of multiple products. The individual products are what get configured to a host.
The part number for the product package.
Provides a comprehensive overview of all the product package a customer is entitled to. This means it lists everything that appears on a customer's quote, giving a clear picture of what has been owned and is available for use.
The Product Status determines whether a product is currently installed or Not Installed on a Host ID:
- Available: Product is not currently installed on a host ID.
- Installed: Product is currently installed on a host ID.
- Terminated: License has terminated and is no longer available for use.
- Expired: The product is no longer eligible for new versions.
Refers to the specific category or classification of a product, typically based on its features, functionality, or intended use.
The amount of the licensed product that has been purchased.
The Manage Licensing app has various reporting capabilities to easily find and access detailed customer reports on their licenses and products.

- Web: Created directly in the tool via the web interface.
- Oracle: Migrated from the legacy tool into the new web interface.
- Product: Created via license online from the product interface.
The most common type of licensing host. Use this unless you need Triad redundancy or are using products in a home setting.
The date on which the customer was entitled to start using the product.

The date when the contracted license or entitlement to support expires.
Shows the product quantity of a product that is currently configured to a host.
The amount of the product that has been shared or transferred.
Shows where contractual assets have been shared with other customer numbers. This is particularly useful for larger PTC customers who transfer products between various subsidiary accounts, providing a clear view of asset distribution.
A three-server redundancy capability in FlexNet Publisher. All three license servers operate to form a triad. Not supported by all PTC products. Only FlexNet floating licenses, floating modules, and locked modules.
Describes how the product is installed. The values are either locked, floating or home.
