Creo View and Creo Illustrate: In rare cases, running out of temp file disc space or losing write permission to the temp folder can result in serious data loss
Modified: 24-Jan-2024
Applies To
- Creo View 4.0 F000 to 5.0 F000
- Creo Illustrate 4.0 F000 to 5.0 F000
Description
- In a very rare and unlikely combination of conditions, some Creo View and Creo Illustrate workflows may result in some or all data being deleted in the drive containing the temporary directory
- Apart from the loss of data from this file system, the actual symptoms experienced will vary greatly depending on factors such as:
- The temporary folder path that's configured
- The access rights of the user running the application
- This may initially just exhibit as icons disappearing from the current user's desktop, or the application or the system may crash, but the exact nature of symptoms are very difficult to predict
- The table below lists the known scenarios and workflows where, under very rare conditions (i.e. when combined with the temp folder disk partition being completely full or the user having lost write permissions to the temp folder), this could occur:
| Affected Product | Affected Scenarios and Workflows |
|---|---|
| Creo View | Clicking Cancel on the progress bar dialog after initiating a Save Copy Of All As PVZ Note: A large structure and resulting PVZ file will be easier to reproduce the symptoms |
| Open any native ECAD file except for GERBER type | |
| Creo View 5.0 only: Executing Publish Model from the Augmented Reality tool dialog, after selecting a Spacial Target | |
| Creo Illustrate | Check- in of an Illustration to Windchill using the Workgroup Manager integration |
| Import a PVZ file, Create 3D figure and publish it to a PVZ file | |
Create new Illustration, Import a model, create new 3D Figure and then perform one of the following two operations:
| |
| Open of a C3DI file version earlier than 1.3 | |
| Add template file when creating a publish option for PDF | |
| Export to image or 3D to the PDF format using a template | |
| Publish while having a PDF publish option using a template | |
| Upload, download and update from Windchill. Also, Translation upload | |
| Export as Standard from Options dialog for Illustrations | |
| Creo Illustrate 5.0 only: Saving a Figure as a CGM file using Save As Illustration File |
