After an Upgrade Database Schema failure, subsequent runs can produce unexpected errors in Windchill PDMLink
Modified: 31-Dec-2025
Applies To
- Windchill PDMLink 8.0 to 13.1
Description
- After an Upgrade Database Schema failure (during upgrade or update), retrying can produce unexpected errors
- Subsequent runs of Upgrade Database Schema can return the following in the appropriate log:
Phase PENDING: Upgrade Database Schema In phase - Upgrade Database Schema and set framework logger to - INFO Using pre-generated SQL files from a previously failed instance. To generate new SQL files OR force compare schema, delete the .SQL directory from d:\ptc\Windchill\Upgrade\UpgradeReports\com.ptc.windchill.upgrade.phases.upgradeschema.UpgradeSchema\.SQLsand restart
- Many odd, unexplainable errors might follow due to a domino effect, such as:
com.ptc.windchill.upgrade.dbservices.AbstractUpgradeDBHelper - Not retrying original command
An error occurred during execution of SQL executor command SQLCommand[CREATE INDEX FvItem$COMPOSITE1 ON FvItem(createStampA2,idA2A2) ON INDX]
- The SQL command contained in the [] block can vary greatly and is not the root cause of the issue
