Error "The autonumbering feature should be enabled for 'WCTYPE|wt.epm.EPMDocument|...' soft type" returned when checking-in a Dynamic Document via Arbortext Editor

Description

  • When Bursting into Arbortext Content Manager or Windchill PDMLink, the following error appears: 
    The autonumbering feature should be enabled for softype
  • Executing File > Save As Server Object does not work
    • No error is returned 
    • Document does not appear in workspace 
  • If Arbortext Editor debugging is enabled the following error appears in <APTBURSTLOGPATH>\burst.log  
    Begin Save As Object for document <DocumentName>
The autonumbering feature should be enabled for "WCTYPE|wt.epm.EPMDocument|xxx.xxxxxx.DynamicDocument" soft type.

Save As Object failed, code -199.

  • If publishing with SISWorker, the following error is seen in Background Method Server (BGMS) log: 
    Nested exception is: java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("WCUSER_DEV"."EPMDOCUMENTMASTER"."DOCUMENTNUMBER")
      
  • If using Translation Management to create a translation package, this error is seen:  
    The value of "Number" cannot be set to null, since it is a "required" attribute.
  • Enabling Autonumbering via Object Initialization Rule (OIR) in Organization context does not resolve error
