Secure IT-OT integration unlocks insights, data-driven decisions
PTC Kepware and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are extending their collaboration to help manufacturers accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven decision-making. Together, we are enabling industrial organizations to securely connect operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), scale data access, and unlock insights that drive efficiency, quality, and innovation.
“Partnering with PTC and AWS has helped us build a strong data foundation and drive step change improvement in our manufacturing operations,” said Shawn Eads, CIO at Penn Engineering. “By deploying Kepware and integrating with AWS, we’ve unlocked real-time access to critical OT data across global sites, enabling AI-powered insights that are driving measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and uptime. This collaboration helps us accelerate industry 4.0, while ensuring scalability and security.” For many years, Kepware and AWS customers have been able to seamlessly, securely share data from industrial devices to the cloud. The extension of the partnership provides a validated integration and reference architecture to help manufacturers accelerate their digital transformation journeys and use of AI in manufacturing.
Key highlights:
- Device connectivity: Kepware industrial connectivity normalizes data from virtually any industrial device via 150+ unique device drivers that reliably translate hundreds of industrial network protocols
- Secure integrations:
- Kepware uses MQTT with AWS Greengrass and IoT Core to share asset data and Industrial IoT data with the AWS ecosystem
- Kepware streams real-time data to AWS IoT SiteWise using OPC UA and AWS IoT Greengrass for industrial equipment monitoring at scale
- Data storage: Ingest data from Kepware into Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), AWS IoT Core and AWS IoT SiteWise and other Amazon services for secure, scalable storage
- Data management: Centralize OT data in a secure AWS data lake, use AWS Glue to create ETL pipelines, and query with Amazon Athena or Amazon Redshift for analytics.
- Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML): Leverage Amazon SageMaker to build, train, and deploy ML models, and use generative AI services such as Amazon Q Business to answer questions, generate insights, and accelerate decision-making.
Kepware unites deep industrial expertise with AWS’s cloud innovation to deliver solutions that simplify complexity, ensure security, and scale efficiently. This partnership enables customers to break down data silos, democratize insights, and make decisions whether they are optimizing a single production line or transforming an entire global enterprise.
“By deepening our collaboration with AWS, we’re enabling our customers to harness the power of AI and cloud computing to drive smarter, more efficient industrial operations,” said Abby Eon, GM & SVP of PTC Kepware. “The continued partnership is proof of our mutual vision and mission to bridge the gap between operational technology and IT.”
“PTC Kepware’s proven industrial connectivity, combined with AWS’s AI and analytics capabilities, creates a powerful foundation for digital transformation in manufacturing,” said Sandrine Perino, Global Head of Industrial Partners at AWS. “Together, we’re helping manufacturers securely connect shop-floor systems to the cloud, unlock real-time insights, and accelerate the path to Industry 4.0.”
