Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming industries, and at PTC, we embrace this transformation with a strong sense of responsibility. Our mission is to ensure that AI is deployed ethically, securely, and transparently—both in the products we deliver and in the processes that drive our business.

Why AI Governance matters

AI offers immense potential to accelerate innovation, improve productivity, and create value for customers. However, it also introduces risks that must be managed proactively. At PTC, AI governance is more than a compliance checkbox, it’s a cornerstone of ethics and trust.

Our AI Governance framework

To ensure AI is used responsibly, PTC has established a comprehensive governance model designed to oversee its use across the enterprise:

  • AI Governance Council (AI@PTC)
This council is the backbone of our governance strategy. It brings together leaders from legal, compliance, ethics, human resources, IT, security, and engineering to define standards, review AI use cases, and ensure alignment with global regulations and best practices. Acting as the operational hub, it implements governance policies and conducts risk assessments to safeguard responsible AI deployment.
  • Executive Leadership Advisory Committee
Comprising of senior leaders and domain experts, this committee provides strategic oversight and guidance on AI-related decisions, including risk management and compliance.
  • AI Champions Across Functions
Embedded in every business unit, these champions promote ethical AI practices, ensure adherence to governance principles at the operational level, and drive awareness.
  • Structured Review Process
Every AI use case in both product development and internal operations undergoes a rigorous review for compliance, security, and ethical considerations before approval.

Core principles guiding AI at PTC

Our governance framework is built on five foundational principles:

  1. Transparency & Explainability
Customers deserve clarity on how AI systems make decisions. Our governance framework is aligned with leading global standards, including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and is continuously updated to reflect new regulations such as the EU AI Act.

We also recognize the critical importance of providing our customers and prospects with up-to-date information about the AI tools embedded in PTC products. By keeping our product documentation and communications current, we empower users to make informed decisions and maximize the value of our AI solutions.

  2. Fairness & Inclusivity
We actively monitor and mitigate bias in AI models to ensure equitable outcomes across demographics and use cases.
  3. Privacy & Security
Data entrusted to PTC is safeguarded through robust encryption, access controls, and compliance with global data protection regulations.
PTC does not use customer data to train or fine-tune AI models. All AI features are deployed with strict data isolation, ensuring that customer data remains secure and private within their own environment. Our approach is governed by enterprise AI policy and legal review, as detailed in our Trust Center resources.
  4. Accountability & Human Oversight
AI augments human decision-making and never replaces accountability. Clear escalation paths and audit trails are integral to our governance process.

All employees receive training on responsible AI use, including the risks and benefits of generative AI tools. This ensures that our workforce is equipped to uphold PTC’s high standards for ethical and secure AI deployment.

  5. Reliability & Safety
AI systems undergo rigorous testing to ensure they perform consistently and securely under real-world conditions.

AI in our products and processes

PTC embeds AI responsibly across its product portfolio—from Creo for smarter CAD design to Windchill for AI-driven PLM workflows, Codebeamer to streamline requirements engineering and test management and ServiceMax for field service execution. Internally, AI powers productivity tools like Microsoft Copilot and specialized AI agents for tasks such as invoice processing, customer briefing generation, code generation assistance and more. Every deployment follows our governance protocols to ensure compliance and ethical use.

Only AI tools and models that have been reviewed and approved by our AI@PTC Governance team are used in our products and internal operations. Before product release, all AI features undergo rigorous testing and validation, and we continuously monitor them to ensure they behave as expected. This process supports our commitment to security, transparency, and responsible innovation.

Our commitment in action

Responsible AI is not just a policy—it’s a practice embedded in every product, process, and partnership. Our PTC Trust Center provides transparency into how we manage AI risks, protect customer data, and uphold the highest standards of ethics and compliance.

We invite you to learn more about our approach and join us in building a future where AI innovation and trust go hand in hand.

When you choose PTC, you’re not just adopting cutting-edge technology, you’re partnering with a company that prioritizes responsible innovation. Our governance model ensures that AI enhances your business without compromising ethics, security, or trust.
