Oktoberfest, held annually in Munich, Germany, is the world’s largest beer festival and autumnal funfair. It’s an opportunity to enjoy libations and celebrations while sampling traditional Bavarian fare and games.
For the third consecutive year, PTC partnered with global non-profit startup accelerator MassChallenge to put our own spin on Oktoberfest! Together with MassChallenge, we brought an interactive tech networking event to life, complete with all the Oktoberfest fixings – beer from Harpoon Brewery, pretzels from SwissBakers, sausages from Fenway’s famous The Sausage Guy, and the best oompah band around – the Jolly K’s.
Hosted at MassChallenge’s headquarters in the heart of Boston’s Innovation District, the Oktoberfest Party & Tech Showcase drew in more than 600 movers and shakers from the Boston tech community, including PTC senior leadership; industry analysts; and MassChallenge cohorts, alumni, sponsors, and partners.
When the crowd wasn’t busy networking and chatting industrial innovation, all eyes were on the infamous stein hoisting competition. What else says autumn than shaky-armed competitors holding one-liter glasses of Oktoberfest beer?
But this year’s event wasn’t just fun and games. Before the party officially kicked off, six hand-picked MassChallenge cohorts delivered tech pitches to PTC executives and received feedback. From non-invasive sensor retrofits to AR for surgical guidance and machine learning technology to IIoT solutions, the pitches covered a wide variety of digital transformation initiatives. Oktoberfest attendees enjoyed the tech pitches, alongside interactive IIoT and AR demos from PTC, during the festivities.
