PTC’s cloud-native CAD and PDM platform now available through AWS Marketplace for streamlined procurement and deployment

PTC today announced that its cloud-native Onshape® computer-aided design (CAD) and product data management (PDM) platform is now available on the AWS Marketplace. This launch further strengthens PTC’s strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and expands access to modern engineering tools across industries.

Onshape, built on AWS infrastructure, is the first and only fully cloud-native CAD and PDM platform. By listing Onshape on AWS Marketplace, engineering teams gain faster deployment, streamlined procurement, and the ability to align Onshape spend with AWS purchasing commitments. This enables organizations to optimize their cloud investments, remove legacy system constraints, and support scalable, secure collaboration across departments.

Key Benefits of Onshape on AWS Marketplace:

  • Centralized Billing: Simplifies purchasing and financial alignment.
  • Scalability & Speed: Powered by Amazon EC2 for dynamic performance.
  • Security & Compliance: SOC 2 Type II certified, with Onshape Government hosted on AWS GovCloud to support ITAR/EAR compliance.
  • AI Innovation: Onshape AI Advisor, built on Amazon Bedrock, delivers intelligent guidance during design workflows.

“PTC's Onshape solution joining AWS Marketplace is an important milestone that builds on our joint Strategic Collaboration Agreement and shared commitment to accelerate product engineering innovation in the cloud," said Michael Choe, AWS General Manager, US Automotive and Manufacturing. "This launch enables customers to easily discover, purchase, and deploy the Onshape cloud-native CAD solution through a simplified procurement process while benefiting from consolidated billing and retiring their annual AWS commitments. Through our joint go-to-market efforts, we look forward to helping more customers worldwide transform their product development with Onshape on AWS."

This launch is part of a broader PTC–AWS strategy to make cloud-native engineering tools more widely accessible, supported by programs that give organizations flexible ways to adopt Onshape across different industries and stages of growth. Through the Onshape Discovery Program, engineering teams can access Onshape Professional at no cost for up to six months, giving them time to experience its speed and collaboration benefits before committing. The Onshape Startup Program provides hardware startups and entrepreneurs free access to Onshape Professional or Onshape Government, supporting early-stage companies. Onshape Government, hosted on AWS GovCloud, further supports teams operating in regulated environments. Additionally, Onshape AI Advisor, powered by Amazon Bedrock, offers intelligent, in-context guidance during design workflows.

“By bringing Onshape to AWS Marketplace, we’re empowering engineering teams, from startups to global enterprises, with a clear path to move beyond legacy systems and collaborate securely in the cloud,” said David Katzman, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Onshape and Arena, PTC. “This marks an important step in deepening our collaboration with AWS and reshaping how products are designed and built.”
