COVID-19 Hero: HanesBrands Mass Produces Face Masks & Medical Gowns

Known as a socially responsible manufacturer of basic apparel under some of the world’s strongest apparel brands globally, HanesBrands everyday apparel brands include Hanes, Champion, Gear for Sports, and others.

HanesBrands has a 100+ year history of innovation and product excellence. But, recently, the world-renowned brand has put its apparel design and manufacturing expertise to the test to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Having already produced and delivered more than 60 million cloth face masks across the U.S., HanesBrands is ahead of schedule to deliver more than 320 million of the washable 3-ply all-cotton face coverings.

In addition, the iconic apparel manufacturer is producing more than 20 million medical gowns to be distributed by the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency to hospitals and healthcare facilities in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

HanesBrands said in a statement: “The company expects to ramp up to the production of 1.5 million masks weekly, and the consortium [of other major apparel manufacturers led by Parkdale Mills America] is expected to ramp up to the production of 5 million to 6 million masks weekly using HanesBrands’ design and patterns.”
