The newest release of the industry-proven direct modeling software, Creo Elements/Direct, is now available! Creo Elements/Direct is PTC’s comprehensive system for mechanical engineers and designers who create products using the direct modeling approach to 3D CAD. Direct modeling allows you to quickly and easily create one-off designs, helping to shorten time to market, meet customer demands for new products, and satisfy increasingly complex customer requirements.

In Creo Elements/Direct 20.8, you’ll find new enhancements to Modeling, Annotation and Drafting. Plus, we’ve included updates that ensure interoperability with Creo 12—the latest release of our award-winning CAD system.

Boost your productivity with these new capabilities. Discover more about each below:

Modeling

Enhanced Selection in 3D Modeling

Creo Elements/Direct Modeling now offers a new seed and boundary selection method. Based on a selected seed and one or more boundary faces, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling selects and highlights all surfaces between the seed and boundary faces. This provides you with additional selection flexibility to select many surfaces faster.

Sheet Metal

Overlap check during unfolding operations

A check for overlapping contours is now available, when unfolding a sheet metal design using “Unfold 2D”, and “Multi Unfold”. This check generates a warning and highlights overlapping or touching contours in a preview, helping you to avoid costly manufacturing issues downstream.

Annotation

Improved standard compliance

The Annotation module in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling is updated for improved standard compliance for technical drawing creation. A new surface symbol according to the ISO 21920-2021 standard is now available.

Drafting

Multi-sheet drawing enhancements

Creo Elements/Direct Drafting now enriches the capabilities of multi-sheet drawings. The enhanced Multi-Sheet Manager user interface offers the additional commands “Import Sheet” and “Move Sheet”.

Creo 12 compatibility

Enhanced data interoperability between Creo Elements/Direct Modeling and Creo enables an enhanced transfer of 3D documentation when importing or opening a Creo Elements/Direct model in Creo 12.

Data Management

Compatible Windchill Workgroup Manager support is planned for Creo Elements/Direct Modeling and Drafting 20.8.0.0 to be compatible with WWGM 13.1.0.1
