PTC Modeler 10.2 – What’s New
SysML 2.0
PTC Modeler 10.2 delivers innovative system modelling capabilities in accordance with the new system modelling standard, SysML 2.0, which was approved by the Object Management Group (OMG) in July 2025. SysML 2.0 is the next-generation language for modeling systems and is designed to facilitate a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach to complex product development. PTC Modeler 10.2 and SysML 2.0 provide the capabilities to create and visualize models that represent many different aspects of a system, including requirements, structure, behavior and verification.
SysML 2.0 capabilities will be released incrementally over multiple versions of PTC Modeler, beginning with version 10.0. The main functional areas that are delivered with PTC Modeler 10.2 include State, Analysis and Verification modeling. These capabilities enable you to design state-based behavior for a system, define the analysis activities that are required to assess the system’s behavior and create verification elements that represent the testing and analysis steps required. The state, analysis and verification elements can all be connected to the system requirements and architecture designs to provide integrated structure and behavior analysis and testing, driven by requirements.
PTC Modeler 10.2 provides a way to jump-start SysML 2.0 projects by allowing you to import textual notation (.sysml files) which automatically create the equivalent model elements. This empowers your engineers to easily transition from using cumbersome, fragmented sets of files containing SysML 2.0 elements, to a model-based SysML 2 definition that’s managed in a secure SQL Server database. The easy-to-use importer tool verifies the import files for correct SysML 2 syntax, reports issues and then automatically creates all of the relevant model elements and relationships.
The user assistant utility for SysML 2 has been improved and expanded to provide more guidance to your users on model standards and correctness.
This release also includes a new User Role called SysML 2 Lite. This provides the user with a simplified SysML 2 solution in PTC Modeler, with fewer types, simpler menus and user interfaces, making it much easier to learn and adopt SysML 2. Contact PTC for more information.
Usability
PTC Modeler 10.2 includes diagramming usability improvements that will greatly increase your modeling productivity. The diagram populate feature has been enhanced to provide an automatic layout of symbols when they are added to a diagram, or to an existing symbol. The populate tool uses a configurable grid layout and also moves existing diagram symbols out of the way so as not to disrupt diagrams that already have symbols. It’s now possible to use the populate function on multiple items, which gives you a rapid way of creating new diagrams. As well as nodes, diagram links can be populated, and these are automatically routed to provide the optimum layout. Finally, when re-sizing diagram symbols, using CTRL will also move existing symbols out of the way if required, and this gives you a quick easy way to make space on diagrams to add new symbols.
Digital Thread Integrations
PTC Modeler 10.2 includes reverse lookup for Codebeamer, which ensures your users in both systems can view OSLC Links and linked items, regardless of where they are created. This ensures end-to-end visibility for digital thread traceability links between PTC Modeler and Codebeamer.
PTC Modeler’s embedded Web Browser has been upgraded and now provides you with a modern user experience when accessing rich OSLC previews for Codebeamer and Windchill PLM, and for any web page or resource when using HTML Links.
Infrastructure
PTC Modeler 10.2 supports SQL Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025 which ensures your company is able to use the latest 3rd party products when working with PTC Modeler. This release also sees improvements to the installation process when working with a remote SQL Server deployment. Software security has also been improved for PTC Modeler 10.2, which now complies with US. Executive Order (EO) 14028 which specifies secure software development practices.
