- What is the best way to rename the Solidworks configuration
- Renaming the Solidworks configurations from Solidworks UI results in loss of Instance information in Windchill if the preference Manage new model instances is set to No
- The system attribute PTC_IS_INSTANCE is reset, if changing configuration name from Solidworks.
- If set preference Manage new model instances by default and Auto Generate Family Table Instance Number to Yes, an instance with auto numbering will be created for the Solidworks configuration and the system attribute PTC_IS_INSTANCE is set as Yes.
- However, if changing PTC_IS_INSTANCE to No (no longer be managed as instance), and then changing the configuration name from Solidworks, PTC_IS_INSTANCE will be reset to Yes again.
- The configuration name will be overwritten by auto numbering again.
