LiveWorx ’17 starts next week. This year’s LiveWorx will have great sessions for those of you in the Engineering field – whether you use Windchill, Integrity, Creo, or are trying to figure out your next step on your Digital Engineering Journey, there is a session that will appeal to you. Below, find some highlighted key sessions you should plan to attend:

Tuesday

  • Ask the Experts: Windchill & Integrity: Start the week off right with PTC’s Windchill and Integrity Product Managers as they answer your questions about the products, functionality, and capability. 9:30-10:15am
  • Digital Engineering Transformation Journey and You: If you regularly read the Windchill blog, you’ve heard a lot about the Digital Engineering Journey. In this session, discover how it will affect you. No matter what industry you are in or what department you occupy in your organization, the introduction of smart, connected technology will completely disrupt the way you are currently operating. Join us as we outline what role you will play in this transformational journey, how you can prepare for the changes, and why you're going to love working in the IoT era. 10:30-11:15am
  • E.Go Life: Outcome-Based Design for Electric Cars: Electric cars that are fun, practical and affordable – e.Go Mobile takes a radically new approach to design, validate and produce lightweight e-cars for everyday use. Uncompromising cost efficiency and maximum flexibility are key to success in this highly competitive and fast-changing market. The traditional OEM-Supplier approach has been replaced with a collaborative research and engineering partner network. The agile product engineering process is characterized by small and fast iterations to get immediate feedback from prototype users. Rather than wasting time and effort by managing copious amounts of requirements and textual specification documents which quickly become outdated, a model-based system design allows for early system behavior validation through simulation, automatic generation of all necessary software elements for system connectivity and prototype-in-the-loop validation for constant improvement of critical performance parameters such as the e-car’s range. This session explains and demonstrates these techniques with PTC’s model-based systems engineering capabilities in combination with Thingworx as IoT platform. 11:30am-12:15pm
  • Integration Potholes, Speed Bumps and Roadblocks: Integration, once the key to innovation, is fast becoming the key to mere survival. Software is becoming a principle driving force in the design of highly engineered products. As a result, the necessity of ALM / PLM integration is becoming self-evident. We'll show you the first steps taken by BAE Systems US Controls division along the path to an integrated solution. Delve into the trade-offs and design decisions that were made along the way and their ramifications. Apply the lessons learned to your ALM / PLM integration projects. 3:15-4:00pm

Wednesday:

  • Expert-Led Panel: How to Make Smart Connected Design Work for You: How is your product performing in the field? You can guess or you can know. Join Paul Sagar, VP of CAD Product Management, François Lamy, VP PLM Solution Management & Strategy, and VP of ALM Solution Management, Hedley Apperly for this panel. They’ll show you how to take a deliberate strategic approach to smart connected product design; the technologies that can help; and ways to apply both to your day-to-day product design process. 9:15-10:00am
  • How BMW Develops Complex, Safety-Critical Systems Using Model-Based Engineering: New Automotive Systems in E/E are highly connected and are built on the collaboration of distributed functions. In addition, the requirements for safety concepts are getting more and more demanding due to higher degrees of automated vehicle functions. In order to fulfill the norms like ISO26262, new methods to verify functional safety have to be introduced. System architectures and requirements have to be developed in parallel. We will share how BMW introduced -and the benefits of- step approach models for multi-level system architectures and the joint use and re-use of these models, all based on a common development methodology and a modeling tool chain, which integrates existing solutions and data. 3:00-3:45pm
  • Everything You Wanted to Know About Systems Engineering (But Were Afraid to Ask): Hear from leaders who are advancing the state of the art of systems engineering in this interactive panel discussion. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions of customer and PTC panelists on how they are successfully transforming their systems engineering practices to improve product innovation, quality and time-to-market. 4:00-4:45pm

Thursday:

  • Configured Product Visualization: Now You See It, Now You Have It: We will share a demonstration of visualization of configured products. It will show how configuration rules and logic are used to select parts, models and variants to build a complete, accurate model of a single machine. 8:00-8:45am
  • ThingWorx Navigate Roadmap: ThingWorx Navigate is PTC’s family of connected apps that provide self-serve, universal access to product information from Windchill and other enterprise systems in a role-based view that is easy to consume. These connected apps help accelerate completion of product development tasks and to facilitate better, faster decisions in engineering, manufacturing and service. In this session, the presenter will review the Navigate features in the latest release based on ThingWorx 8 and outline the capabilities planned for Navigate releases over the next year. 9:00-9:45am
  • One BOM is Better Than Two – Linking the CAD BOM and PDMLink Product Structure: As SRAM began shifting from a drawing-centric to a part-centric environment, it became clear that maintaining a link between the CAD BOM and PDMLink Product Structure was crucial. Maintaining a separate and disjointed CAD BOM and Product Structure BOM would add confusion and work for SRAM and its suppliers. The method for passing information from CREO into PDMLink, effectively linking the CAD BOM and PDMLink Product Structure, is less than ideal. SRAM determined that instead of doing this work manually, using PTC's j-Link API to automate the process resulted in a win-win: people get the ease of CAD BOM creation using out-of-the-box CREO tools and the time-saving benefits of using PDMLink Product Structure, all in a connected and synchronized environment. 10:30-11:15am
