April marked the release of Windchill+, our pre-configured and secure SaaS PLM service that is core to product development and digital thread needs. Windchill+ takes PLM beyond the engineering department, more easily extending its benefits to other groups across the organization and outside the firewall: manufacturing, procurement, service, customers, partners, and more.
Large-scale adoption of cloud technologies by manufacturers and product companies has been slower than other industries because of the complexity of operations and the pressure to get products to market. But the ongoing priority of digital transformation initiatives has finally tipped the scale in favor of the cloud, and these companies are looking at product development systems, like PLM, as a backbone of digital transformation strategies.
We’re seeing this adoption grow in real time, as more companies have selected Windchill+ for their PLM needs. Let’s look at a few recent examples:
The Raymond Corporation: A leading manufacturer of forklift trucks and pallet jacks, Raymond chose Windchill+ to improve performance, better connect a distributed workforce, and remove the burden of upgrades and administration overhead. Raymond also anticipates improving its time to market and overall team efficiency by running the latest Creo tools to complement Windchill+ and embracing a development approach that prioritizes model-based design, modular architectures, visualization, and bill-of-materials (BOM) transformation.
Balluff: a leading sensor and automation specialist offers a comprehensive portfolio of high-quality sensors, identification and image processing solutions, including network technology and software. This fourth generation family-owned company selected Windchill+ to improve collaboration across its global engineering teams. The Balluff design teams use Windchill+ to review and manage product data and to simplify coordination with external suppliers.
Balluff Chief Technology Officer Hubertus Breier tells us: “Our mechatronic products for industrial automation comprise several areas of expertise. Windchill+ unlocks additional potential for interdisciplinary and international collaboration of our engineering teams.”
Argo-Hytos: A leading supplier of mobile hydraulics systems, Argo-Hytos selected Windchill+ to de-customize its existing PLM deployment and adopt more standardized processes. Windchill+ is also allowing Argos-Hytos to reduce its total cost of ownership for PLM, most notably from API and update costs.
