Customer Success: Penske’s Winning Weekend

With summer comes racing season, and we’re starting to hear from Creo customers as their vehicles cross finish lines across the country in record time. Check out Team Penske’s winning weekend:

Staying out ahead in Texas

In early June, Will Power and Team Penske racing at the Texas Motor Speedway, won the Rainguard Water Sealers 600. The victory is the 31st Indy car win in the Team Penske driver’s career, tying him with Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy for ninth all time. Driving the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, Power led with a race-high 180 laps.

It was a terrific couple of days for our teams as Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet team were able to win the race at Texas and lead 180 of the 248 laps,” said Team Penske’s Jonathan Gibson.

Not to be outdone…

That same weekend, Brad Keselowski kicked off a win for Team Penske at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania at the XFINITY Series that harkened back to the “good old days” for the 22 team.

“It was the first win for the 22 NXS team since 2015 so it was great to get the SKF Ford Mustang back in the victory lane,” added Gibson.

Keselowski led a race-high 29 laps in the No. 22 SKF Ford Mustang and crossed first in all three stages to take the checkered flag in Pocono Green 250 on Saturday. The victory marked his first in NASCAR’s second series.

More winning

That same weekend at Pocono Raceway, former Brad Keselowski Racing driver Ryan Blaney won the big event on Sunday at Pocono, his first career Cup Series win, in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Motorcraft Ford.

“It was really special for our team to be a part of Ryan Blaney’s first Cup win this weekend and to share in the Wood Brothers 99th Cup Series Victory,” said Gibson.

Creo helps steer Team Penske

Engineering and design take a front seat in the design of Penske’s race cars. Design teams use Creo to introduce new product innovations, shave down design cycles, and cut production times. Creo also provides full verification and validation of 3D designs, which reduces the need for prototyping and helps engineers reduce costly prototypes and wind tunnel tests by 60 percent.

The result? Cars owned and prepared by Team Penske have produced more than 380 major race wins, over 430 pole positions and 25 National Championships. The team has also earned 15 Indianapolis 500 victories in its storied history.

Congratulations to all involved. We’re glad to be a part of an amazing team of passionate racing pros.
