This week I will discuss the improvements to 3D annotations. These feature improvements are available in the base license of Creo Parametric. There is no need to buy additional extensions or applications to take advantage of them.
1) Dedicated Annotation Tab
There’s a new dedicated tab within the user interface for annotation functions. While the default annotation planes are already identified, have the ability to edit them. Users can also easily navigate to the view of the active annotation plane. Having all of these tools in one place makes managing your annotations much faster and easier.
2) Streamlined Management of Combined States
Creating and updating the properties of combined states can now be done with a simple click (In Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0, you would have to open up the “View Manager”). As you create additional combined states, they will be automatically added to a tab in the bottom of the graphics window. If changes are made to the model (orientation or layer state for instance) they will be updated in the combination state.
3) Show Annotations Tool
The “Show Annotations” tool streamlines the tasks of showing existing model annotations. This tool automatically chooses an appropriate annotation plane, which is a big time saver as the user no longer needs to manually choose the annotation plane. Annotations are also assigned to the active combination state, which also saves time as the user no longer needs to manage annotation visibility with layers.
4) Additional Improvements
Other improvements include the ability to control the cosmetic appearance of annotations on models and dynamic repositioning of dimensions in 3D drawings.
The bottom line for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0 users is that Creo Parametric will save significant time and effort when working with 3D annotations (up to 58% according to a third-party benchmark). Improved 3D annotations are just one of the many reasons to make a move. Have a look at this head to head comparison video to see all the changes for yourself:
