With more than 7,400 employees worldwide, Groupe Beneteau specializes in customized sailing yachts, powerboats, and luxury homes. Like many modern manufacturers, it produces a variety of products and numerous variations across its many global production facilities.
To give you a better idea, Groupe Beneteau offers more than 200 models of boats, each one of which comes in several versions with many options for each version. Trying to manufacture with this diversity in mind while continuing to satisfy customer demands is no small feat – especially in an environment burdened with silos and disjointed systems.
To address this challenge, Groupe Beneteau is leveraging PTC’s Windchill® PLM platform to create a digital thread of information across the lifecycle of its products, from design and product development, to manufacturing and out to suppliers and dealerships.
The iconic French boat builder recently rolled out a digital transformation initiative that covers both its industrial processes and the management of its commercial business.
“Our digital thread will be managed by PLM, which creates the backbone necessary to execute an Industry 4.0 strategy. With a complete digital process, we will have the speed and flexibility to deliver our products with more features at a more competitive price,” said Bertrand Dutilleul, Global CIO, Groupe Beneteau in a recent press release.
We are sharing a behind-the-scenes look at this digital transformation at LiveWorx 2019:
