Three Steps to Get Started with Industrial AR

For example, manufacturers can use AR to counteract the increasing skills gap as experienced, veteran workers begin to approach retirement. AR provides a more efficient way to transfer knowledge from experts and train new workers, saving time and costs during onboarding and creating a more agile workforce.

Service teams can use AR to improve fix rates with up-to-date, interactive step-by-step digital instructions for field technicians overlaid onto physical products. Leveraging AR allows field technicians to tap into in-house expertise for better, faster service which leads to increased customer satisfaction.

Additionally, AR can help manufacturers differentiate their sales and marketing activities, especially at trade shows and on-site for customers, with immersive personalized experiences. AR can help to shorten sales cycles and reduce the cost of logistics by digitizing and mobilizing full-scale renditions of complex manufacturing equipment and machinery, and placing them on the show floor, the customer’s property, or elsewhere. With industrial AR's wide variety of use cases, it’s important to focus on how it can help solve your most significant business challenges.

2) Get support from others

AR is a transformative technology that can bring tremendous value to your company, but you need to have buy-in from additional teams and decision makers in the early stages for a truly successful implementation. Demonstrating the technology and the impact it will have on your business to key stakeholders can make all the difference when the time comes to scale your AR solution. However, it’s easy to get carried away with an overly stylish experience, so keep any demos or pilots simple and relevant to solving your business challenges for the best results.
