What's the news with this release?
Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 represents the next version of Pro/ENGINEER workgroup product data management built on the Windchill technology.
A subset of the capabilities of Windchill PDMLink 9.1, Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 is intended to provide existing Pro/INTRALINK 3.x customers with comprehensive replacement capabilities for Pro/ENGINEER product data management. Specific enhancements include:
- Support for workspace frames to “roll-back,” or undo local workspace operations
- File server replication improvements make it possible to vault data that has been created at remote sites without needing to transfer that content to the master server
- A new relationship report provides information about related objects and their dependency types
- Support for Pro/ENGINEER Manikin data
- Combined option to revise and checkout an object in a single step
- Ability to have a new revision of a file be derived from an earlier (non-latest) revision
- Table improvements including column resize and column freeze
- Integrate capability to merge two independently made modifications to a single Pro/ENGINEER file
What customer problems does Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 solve?
Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 is a solution for Pro/ENGINEER workgroup product data management. Robust and widely deployed, it enables concurrent engineering by providing capabilities for the vaulting and sharing of product data, the assignment of access controls for individual and groups, attribute management, advanced search capabilities and reporting tools.
How does Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 differ from Pro/INTRALINK 3.X?
Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 provides many improvements over Pro/INTRALINK 3.x. The most notable enhancements include the following:
- Improved distributed (WAN) performance
- New Web-based architecture and advanced security/ firewall/ LDAP capabilities
- Streamlined Pro/ENGINEER interactions
- Faster visualization with data management of viewables (for those users who have ProductView)
What version of Pro/ENGINEER will Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 support?
Please refer to the Pro/ENGINEER compatibility roadmap document.
What role does Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 play in PTC's Product Data Management Strategy and how does Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 fit into PTC's Product Development System strategy?
PTC's product data management strategy encompasses both the engineering workgroup as well as enterprise users to manage upstream ideation information through downstream manufacturing planning and support.
Pro/INTRALINK is a full-fledged component of PTC's Product Development System. Because Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 and Windchill 9.1 share the same architecture, Pro/INTRALINK customers that need broader enterprise data and process management can easily upgrade to Windchill PDMLink. In addition, this upgrade will provide a direct path to PTC's Product Development System (PDS).
How does Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 differ from Windchill PDMLink 9.1?
Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 is a Pro/ENGINEER product data management solution for the engineering workgroup. Since Windchill PDMLink 9.1 is a superset of Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 capabilities, Windchill PDMLink also manages Pro/ENGINEER workgroup work in process data. But, in addition, Windchill PDMLink includes powerful enterprise data management and engineering process management capabilities.
What services are available to help deploy Pro/INTRALINK 9.1?
Thanks to a number of new migration options, PTC Global Services can now offer even more cost-effective solutions to migrate your Pro/INTRALINK 3.x data. With our new PTC Solutions Centers, most migration activities can now be performed offsite by dedicated upgrade and migration professionals.
Are there any additional customer training courses available?
Yes, PTC (and PTC certified partners) can provide end-user training for additional users and Administrator training for multi-site implementations. The complete list of role-based learning paths for Windchill 9.1 is being finalized and will be available here. When a customer has a large number or users and requires on-site training, PTC can provide that as well.
Where can I find more information about Pro/INTRALINK?
The Pro/INTRALINK Advisor site provides more information about Pro/INTRALINK as well as guidance on migration strategies.
When will Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 be available?
PTC plans to release Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 in November 2008. However, the timing of any product release, including any features or functionality, is subject to change at PTC’s discretion.
