When will these packages be available?
All five Pro/ENGINEER packages are currently available.
What are the primary differences of each package?
The packages can be divided into three tiers:
- Foundation:
- The essential 3D CAD solution offering the most robust 3D product design toolset that is the core of the industry's only scalable product development platform.
- Advanced:
- The power of Pro/ENGINEER - the industry's only integrated 3D CAD/CAM/ CAE solution - plus data management capabilities.
- Enterprise:
- A complete product development solution, designed to solve the complex needs of today's globally dispersed development teams.
Why did PTC rename the existing Pro/ENGINEER packages?
PTC renamed the Pro/ENGINEER packages to create a scalable system that enables customers to easily and quickly identify which package meets their needs. The new naming system shows the logical hierarchy of functionality designed to meet the varied demands of discrete manufacturers. This scalable system satisfies our customer demands for easy-to-use, powerful, pre-configured packages at competitive price points.
What are the new “Lite” capabilities in Pro/ENGINEER?
With the, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 M070 release, all new Pro/ENGINEER customers and all those on active maintenance are entitled to more, free capabilities. CAE Lite, CAM Lite, and Mankin Lite are now included in all Pro/ENGINEER packages:
- CAE Lite enables you to perform static structural analysis on parts and assemblies so you can virtually test your product earlier in the design cycle
- CAM Lite gives you integrated 2 ½ axis milling capabilities so you can create NC programs to machine your products in less time
- Manikin Lite lets you insert and manipulate a digital human inside your CAD model to help you can see interactions between your product design and people
Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 M070 is available as of February 2009.* You can immediately take advantage of the productivity gains from these lite capabilities and hundreds of other enhancements in the latest release of Pro/ENGINEER.
Is Windchill ProductPoint included in any of the Pro/ENGINEER packages?
Yes, Windchill Product Point is included as an option in the Pro/ENGINEER Advanced SE and XE packages as well as the Pro/ENGINEER Enterprise SE and XE packages.
Is Windchill On Demand still included in the Pro/ENGINEER Advanced SE package?
No, Windchill On Demand is no longer included in the Pro/ENGINEER Advanced SE package. However, Windchill On Demand can still be purchased separately.
What is included in the Pro/ENGINEER Enterprise XE (Extended Edition) package?
The Pro/ENGINEER Enterprise XE package was updated in July 2008 to help customers improve engineering design optimization and protect product design IP. The package currently contains:
- All contents included in the Pro/ENGINEER SE package
- Mathcad
- Pro/ENGINEER Tolerance Analysis Extension powered by CETOL Technology
- Pro/ENGINEER Mechanica
- Pro/ENGINEER Rights Management Extension

Has the pricing for existing packages changed?
The pricing for the Pro/ENGINEER Advanced SE package has been reduced. The pricing for all other existing Pro/ENGINEER packages has not changed. Please contact your local PTC sales representatives for more information.
Will the new packages require a new license file for existing customers?
No, only the names of existing packages have changed; the contents and licenses have not changed. New licenses will not be required. For example, there is no need to request a new license for Pro/ENGINEER Foundation XE if you currently have the Pro/ENGINEER Foundation Advantage Package.
Will my current maintenance contract for an existing package change?
No, since only the names of existing packages have changed, your current maintenance contract with the former package name will remain valid. At the time of your maintenance renewal, the new package name and a reference to the former package name will appear on your maintenance quote.
Can I upgrade from an existing package to a new Pro/ENGINEER Package?

Yes, Pro/ENGINEER add-on modules and PTC products are available a la carte.
