An Overview of AutobuildZ

Introduction

This course is designed to provide you with an overview of the suite of tools included in AutobuildZ. In addition, you will get familiar with the complete process of building a parametric, feature-based model from a 2D drawing using these tools. In this course, you will be guided through the steps involved in recreating a 3D model from a 2D AutoCAD drawing imported into Pro/ENGINEER.

This course assumes that you are already familiar with Pro/ENGINEER. It is also assumed that you have successfully enabled AutobuildZ for Pro/ENGINEER using the config.pro option (autobuildz_enabled yes).

This course will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You will learn the following concepts, and then apply what you learned in the course practice sessions.

• Importing a 2D Drawing
• Cleaning Up the Drawing
• Setting Up Views
• Initializing New Pro/E Parts
• Feature Creation Wizards
• Saving Models

This interactive course is designed to be used alongside Pro/E. Each lesson has short, easy steps. As you complete a step, use the navigation buttons to move to the next step.

Sample Data for Tutorial

The AutoCAD Drawing file (autobuildz_tutorial.dwg) can be downloaded here. Please save the file (Right click on the URL and use Save Target As... ) to the Pro/ENGINEER working directory. The 3D model that you will be creating should look similar to the image seen below.
