What's the news with this release?

Mathcad 14.0 is PTC's first global release of Mathcad since the acquisition in April 2006. In addition to doubling the language support, this latest release offers a number of enhancements that improve engineering calculation power and clarity. Also, Mathcad 14.0 supports the Mathcad-Pro/ENGINEER integration introduced last year.

How does this release benefit the customer?

The enhancements in this release help customers further improve personal and process productivity. With improved language support for engineering calculation authoring tasks, as well as within the user interface and help resources, this release greatly improves an organization's ability to operate in a global environment. The new calculation capabilities and clarity in documentation help organizations capture, share and reuse critical engineering calculation IP used throughout the product development process.

The Mathcad-Pro/ENGINEER integration enables customers to predict the performance of designs, drive CAD model dimensions and parameters directly from results calculated in Mathcad, use dimensions and parameters from Pro/ENGINEER in downstream engineering calculations performed and documented in Mathcad, and instantly update CAD models and the associated Mathcad worksheet when parameters change. This improves design quality, reduces errors from data transfer between applications, and saves time by reducing the number of iterations required to optimize the design.

  • Available in Nine Languages- In addition to English, French, German, and Japanese, new languages include Italian, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)

  • Improved Symbolics-Leverage new and improved capabilities to develop more design concepts and improve IP capture
  • New and Improved Solvers-Solve ordinary differential equations with greater speed and flexibility
  • Worksheet Analysis-Quickly compare worksheets side-by-side and increase IP reuse
  • Inline Numeric Evaluation-Streamline documentation of equations and results
  • Document and Plot Formatting-Improve clarity of graphs and verification and validation of designs
  • Integration with Pro/ENGINEER-Leverage the existing integration to predict the behavior of designs, reduce design time, and improve traceability and documentation for standards compliance
Which languages will be available for Mathcad 14.0 and when will they be available?

All nine languages will be available in February 2007: English, French, German, Japanese, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Italian, Spanish, Korean

Which specific products are being released at this time?

As of February 2007, the following products will be available:

  • Mathcad 14.0
  • Mathcad Calculation Server 14.0

The following products will also be available in February 2007 for:

  • all enterprise customers and
  • single user customers upgrading from Mathcad 12 or Mathcad 13 that already have one or more add-on product:
    • Mathcad Data Analysis Extension Pack 14.0
    • Mathcad Image Processing Extension Pack 14.0
    • Mathcad Signal Processing Extension Pack 14.0
    • Mathcad Wavelets Extension Pack 14.0

For the same customers, the following libraries will be available at the end of March 2007:

  • Mathcad Civil Engineering Library 14.0
  • Mathcad Electrical Engineering Library 14.0
  • Mathcad Mechanical Engineering Library 14.0

At the end of March 2007, all extension packs and libraries will be available for new single user customers and existing single user customers with add-ons from version 11 and earlier.*
