PTC Showcases MCAD Migration Projects
August 7, 2001 -- Needham, MA - PTC, the product development company, (Nasdaq: PMTC), today announced the availability of a special Web-based resource center for companies considering the replacement of their mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) software solutions, for instance, companies who have exceeded the range of their midrange modelers, manufacturers who are migrating from an outdated program version or customers who are looking for an alternative to an obsolete legacy system.
Manufacturing firms looking to take advantage of access to sample migration plans, white papers on total cost of ownership and other special tools should go to PTC's Migration Center at http://www.ptc.com/go/migration. For individual engineers, the PTC Migration Center provides information about training, free software and access to the independent user group, PTC/User, for advice and answers to questions.
"The product development process represents both the potential for huge competitive advantage and incredible disruption," said Paul Cunningham, PTC's executive vice president, sales, The Americas. "In the current economic environment, the ability to affect the bottom line through the development of new innovative products becomes more important than ever. Now is the time to solidify your product development process with the most advanced software available today."
Recent consolidation in the MCAD industry is encouraging manufacturers to search for methods to reduce the risks associated with changing software suppliers. Recently announced industry consolidations include Unigraphics and SDRC, and Dassault and Spatial.
By accessing PTC's Web site, manufacturers can review sample migration plans, read white papers about total cost of ownership and learn how PTC's extensive migration expertise, proven product development leadership, and vast network of services and partnerships can facilitate the migration process. In addition to the Web-based Migration Center, PTC Global Services has developed a migration program which includes: migration planning, program and project management, technology architecture and integration, development, data management and migration and end user education.
