PTC Launches New Channel Partner Program

Worldwide Customers Gain Greater Access to PTC's MCAD Solutions

WALTHAM, Mass. - November 21, 2000 - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the product development company and a leading provider of mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) solutions, today launched its new worldwide channel partner program. The program is part of PTC's strategy to provide superior customer service and deployment support for its MCAD solutions including Pro/ENGINEER, the company's market-leading product design software solution.

PTC is actively recruiting and supporting MCAD resellers in specific geographies under the leadership of veteran channel manager Larry McMenamy who was recently named to the newly created position of vice president of Worldwide Channel Sales (see press release dated October 31st, 2000). Included in the program are channel partners that will sell PTC's full MCAD product line as well as those that will specialize in vertical solutions (i.e. surfacing) and select industries (i.e. shipbuilding).

The new program will allow greater market penetration of PTC products, deliver better customer service, transfer knowledge and skills to resellers, and match PTC customers with the proper channel partner, leveraging the channel's expertise in specific markets. "This program allows each channel partner's expertise to complement PTC's strengths," said McMenamy. "Both entities can focus their core competencies on supporting customer success in the marketplace."

Among the leading participating resellers and agents that are already members of the program: Zero Wait State (covering the Southeastern U.S.); Torgon (Eastern Canada); Igen Inc (Florida); Nasco (Illinois).

"We have adjusted the sales compensation model within PTC to encourage our direct sales force to utilize the channel and we are carefully assessing each of our regions to ensure proper coverage. Minimizing channel conflict with the direct sales force and among resellers is paramount to a successful program. Such considerations will grow the channel in cooperation with the direct sales force and underscores PTC's commitment to the program," added McMenamy.

"PTC's new program is right on. They've managed to align their reseller channel and direct sales force with the right kind of incentives and controls to maximize market coverage," said Tom Greaves, executive vice president and channel analyst at Daratech. "PTC seems committed to make this innovative mix of agency, territory-, vertical- and industry-based programs work for both its partners and customers."

Included in the benefits for participating resellers:

"An effective indirect channel will ensure that our MCAD customers are well served," said Jon Stevenson, executive vice president and general manager, MCAD at PTC. "By getting serious about channel sales, we support our mission to keep PTC's product development solutions at the top of the marketplace. We're giving customers greater access to our MCAD products, and greater deployment and consulting support."
