PTC and FIRST

PTC is a proud sponsor of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), donating software and funds to support this important educational initiative. FIRST was founded in 1989 by inventor and entrepreneur Dean Kamen. Since its inception, FIRST has designed accessible, innovative programs that build science and technology skills and interests, as well as self-confidence, leadership, and life skills. The program reaches more than 150,000 students in grades K-12 annually.

PTC is a Crown Supplier to FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and the official CAD and Collaboration Sponsor to FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). Through its sponsorship of FIRST , PTC is providing Pro/ENGINEER, Mathcad, Windchill and ProductView to all FTC and FRC teams.

According to a Brandeis University study, students who participate in FIRST competitions are three times more likely to major in engineering, and four times more likely to pursue careers in engineering. Completely aligned with PTC’s worldwide education initiative, PTC is excited to sponsor this program that helps high school educators foster a lifelong interest in scientific and engineering principles in their students.
