Laser cutting – Car chassis and flat components for the speed controller can be cut out of 3mm acrylic using a laser cutter.

CNC machining – We show you how to use CNC milling machines and routers to cut the molds for bodies and casings.

3D printing – These machines open up many more possibilities for different shapes and PTC Creo will produce the STL files for transferring designs.

Parts packs – Scalextric provides parts packs for the cars at cost price. Add some acrylic for the chassis and HIPS for the body and a finished tutorial car costs less than £2 GBP ($3 USD).

Speed control circuits – Efficient, programmable PWM speed control circuits are available to build into your own designs.
