PTC® Doubles Language Support of Arbortext Products With 5.2 Release

Arbortext® Solutions Address Customers’ Global Publishing Challenges

NEEDHAM, MA – February 14, 2006 –PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company™, today announced the general availability of Arbortext® 5.2 -- the latest release of PTC’s dynamic publishing software. Since its acquisition of Arbortext in July 2005, PTC has focused on making the deep capabilities of the Arbortext technology even more widely available to customers operating across geographic boundaries and within heterogeneous IT environments. The result is a release of Arbortext solutions geared towards helping customers solve their most pressing publishing needs, specifically those related to the global production and delivery of technical documentation, product catalogs, and product information.

Specific Arbortext 5.2 enhancements include:

· Language Support. For content creation and publishing, this release includes support for EU languages, in particular for the new countries that joined the EU in 2004. For content editing, this release also supports Hebrew and Arabic. During this release, the user interface and help system of Arbortext 5.2 will also support the same 9 languages common to other PTC solutions. These include English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

· Import/Export. The Import/Export feature, which provides conversion between word processing/desktop publishing files and XML, will provide over 50% new functionality and replace the Arbortext Interchange module. The Import feature will offer much finer control over the conversion of styles into XML tags, so that word processing and desktop publishing files can more easily be translated into XML. This enhancement will increase the variety and complexity of documents that can be automatically converted, which will reduce manual effort and increase quality.
The Export feature will convert XML to RTF, a word processing file format, using the same stylesheets that are used to publish to print and electronic media. Without altering existing stylesheets, users will be able to produce Microsoft® Word documents with just the click of the “Print” button, or, if need be, they can modify their stylesheets to fine-tune the resulting file. The Import/Export feature will also support Unicode and Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages.

“Organizations around the world have come to realize the importance of a publishing strategy that supports increasing requirements globalization,” said PG Bartlett, vice president product management for Arbortext products, PTC. “Accordingly, this release addresses our customers’ ability to execute their global publishing initiatives regardless of language requirements, desired hardware platform, or installed content management system.”
