Benefits and Description
The PTC Windchill Service Information Manager translation feature now supports defining a pivot language (an intermediate language) for translations. The original structure and content is first translated to the pivot language. Then, the pivot language translations can be translated to one or more target languages.
A pivot language is useful when it is less costly to translate from the pivot language to the target languages than from the source languages directly to the target languages. It is also useful when content is authored in multiple languages. In this case, translation can be streamlined by first translating all of the languages to the pivot language, and then from the pivot language to all target languages.
