Benefits and Description
In the past, PTC Windchill Workgroup Manager for SolidWorks has provided users with the ability to create a new part in the context of an assembly. This enhancement extends support for the autonumbering capability in SolidWorks to be used when a user creates a new assembly in the context of an assembly. This enhancement improves implementation and adoption time.
When users create a new assembly in the context of an assembly, the autonumbering feature is applied in the same way that it would be if they had selected File > New. This enhancement eliminates the need to perform a workaround (renaming in the workspace) to achieve the same result.
When the Component Add Event process occurs in SolidWorks, PTC Windchill Workgroup Manager renames the component name using the same automatically generated number from PTC Windchill.
