New design for an in-line skate that is revolutinoary in the field of high performance in-line hockey skates. Advanced suspension, with each wheel of the skate having a fully sprung independent suspension, allows the wheel to conform to the ground angle and provide faster, steadier performance by the user especially as they take fast corners.
As product development consultants, we are required to use a variety of CAD packages to service various clients. We are highly proficient at using them, and I do not think any of the other CAD programs we use could have done as good a job as Pro/ENGINEER. The entire development and production process went smoothly and efficiently. The client was amazed at how seamless the process was evolving from design, to engineering, and into manufacturing. The tooled parts fit and performed perfectly, there were no significant design or tooling changes required.
The new Sprung Suspension on this skate provides a tremendous performance advantage over currently available skates, because the wheels can stay in contact with the ground during extreme cornering (on a fixed blade, only one wheel is in contact with the ground if the blade is not exactly parallel with the ground). For hockey players, this advantage is so significant, that professional players will need to wear these in order to compete with other players wearing them.
